The Magna Carta Trust 50th Anniversary Celebration, October 2, 2008

		When I was invited
to the dinner celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Magna
Charta Trust I thought it would be useful to prepare remarks just in
case I was offered the opportunity to speak.
		It turned out there
were many distinguished ladies and gentlemen at the dinner who did not
have the opportunity to speak but could have shared useful experiences
and perspective on the Magna Charta. I am including what I would have
said and I invite them to do the same, either written or with video.

		Chancellor Lewis Neilson

		I am pleased to
[represent][bring greetings from] the National Society Magna Charta
		Dames and Barons.
		We are over 17,000
with a mission of developing awareness of Magna Charta.
		When America was
settled, English men and women brought with them the expectation of
rights granted under Magna Charta, a gift from English speaking peoples
		to the world.
		We now focus on
individual liberty and the rule of law as necessary elements of
		democracy.
		We are embarking on
a program of asking Magna Charta Partners to join with us to fulfill our
purposes and bring our mission to the world.
		I thank you for
including me in your celebration of the Magna Charta Trust. Our member,
Clara Rogers, Lady Fairhaven, joined with her sons to convey the field
		of Runnymede to England.
		Our members gave
funds for the shields at Bury St. Edmunds.
		Today we are using
the internet to bring messages of Magna Charta from inspiring Ladies and
Gentlemen, including Lord Goldsmith, the Honorable Liem Fox and
Chancellor Mike West from Lincoln Cathedral.
		I am honored to
continue the work of my predecessors during the past 100 years and I am
		honored to be here tonight.
