Magna Carta - Icon for the Twenty First Century

 

The Revd Canon Professor Mike West is the Chancellor of Lincoln Cathedral and as such he is a Residentiary Canon and a member of the Cathedral Chapter.  The particular focus of the Chancellor’s work is education, teaching and preaching and he runs the Cathedral’s Education Department.  His principal responsibilities include leading the development of the Cathedral's educational programs and library, leading the Cathedral's work with all visitors, both tourists and pilgrims and engaging with the University of Lincoln.

Michael West has born in Ipswich in Suffolk in November 1950, is married to Margaret and has two grown up children, Kate and Tom.  He has recently become a grandfather for the first time.  He was ordained in Lichfield Cathedral in 1972.  He has gained a Master’s Degree from Oxford University, a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from Cambridge University, a PhD from the University of East Anglia and is a visiting Professor at the University of Lincoln.  During his ministry in the Church of England, he has combined parochial ministry in Wolverhampton, Stoke-on-Trent and Ipswich with a number of educational and academic posts.
